So Taliese Fuaga is going to be taken in the top half of the first round of the NFL draft and Martinez is convinced that he hasn't gotten enough exposure at Oregon State? I think that arguement is he won’t get enough attention playing in the MWC, for Oregon St. The 21 best current active NFL players from the MWC, plus a bunch of honorable mentions.
That may be the argument, but the NFL already knows about Martinez, and would likely continue to look at him if he decided to transfer to a FCS school.

Yeah, the days of the NFL overlooking players because of lack of exposure is looooong gone.

The only "exposure" he and his agent care about is about the NIL $.
Again, if he was a national "brand" he'd have a larger sponsorship deal now. He's not. And, if he thinks/been told he'll suddenly be an elite back at some elite school, he won't. He he thinks/been told he'll become a national brand and get a big sponsor elsewhere he won't.
He lied in several ways, is a me first person, and will likely be investigated on where/how he received enough money for a down/loan on his home purchase. Although his home ownership is also being questioned. Some feel he came out with these lies because he was using the delusional $400k number to negotiate elsewhere before he officially entered the portal??
Most of all this, like 90% of NIL crap is "he said, he said". But, this much is fact Martinez was caught lying.

He didn't get his full $100K because he owed a dealership $8,000 and the NIL covered that for him. We just paid Martinez $92,000 and he is moonwalking out on us to now go get even more. Honestly. f%#* him. this is no Beaver I will root for. ever. It is one thing to be above board and look for a good deal in the offseason. it is another to sign a deal with the intention of playing the next season, take some of the money then immediately f%#*ing bail. Last I am talking about this f%#*ing dirt bag.

Canzano's latest article www.johncanzano.com/p/canzano-damien-martinez-drama-isLooks like Damien got a 92k buck check last month (8k still owed on a vehicle). Martinez says no bad blood with the collective, he just wanted to be able to "prove" himself to be the top RB in the draft next year. Sounds like agent advice to me. His agent was a special teams player at FIU a few years back, don't know how many kids he handles. Edit: I didn't see the post above.

Wait... did he not accuse them of lying/not fulfilling a supposed promise?? Guess when your caught lying yourself there is no bad blood! I’m assuming he had it in his mind that people were accusing him of “taking” 400k, a house, and car and running and said to let people know he didn’t, and maybe got a bit carried away in the moment when the “they lied” comment came out. Who knows what whoever he was talking to said in the moments leading up to that comment. Media tends to pounce on any poorly thought out comments or mis-phrasing because it can make for juicy quotes. I’m trying to give him a bit of a pass, he just turned 20 a couple months back. I think he’s been influenced into some decisions that really aren’t helping him at the moment, maybe in the long run either.

I think that argument is he won’t get enough attention playing in the MWC, for Oregon St. That has zero effect on how the NFL sees him. And the NFL teams are very aware of him already. So Fuaga's tape was scrutinized to the nth degree by NFL personnel and they completely missed Martinez? There's zero chance NFL teams don't already have plenty of tape of Martinez alone. Again, he was all Pac-12 last year and was on the watch list of several big awards. I know for a fact that fans of teams outside of the Pac-12 know about him because I've seen him mentioned in comment sections and message boards on several occasions. Hey, calm down. I agree. I was just explaining what folks in the Martinez camp may argue.

And I agree. That's why I said "that argument". Some people believe that. I'm not one of them.

Yeah, I figured that was your intent. I was just attacking the idea that the NFL would not be aware of him if he were to play in the MWC.

So the players aren't getting more money by having a handler? They cave because they ARE getting more bling. The agents wouldn't exist if it were otherwise. Is money everything? Is playing time, the right system, the right coach, the ability to make it at the next level - are any of those of any value? The agents want to get the most money because THEY get the most money. But it also doesn't mean their insight is in the best interests of their clients for the long-term. Suppose our O-line is down this year. So maybe Martinez doesn't put up as good of numbers. Well, now he's not in as much demand, so why should he stay here? The deck is stacked against us, and the agents only fortify that fact. But I would bet dollars to donuts that many agents are really only about the amount of money they can squeeze out of an institution. And before you go saying "That's their job!" - that's kind of the point is that we've reached that level where agents are going to start controlling things more than anyone. I don't disagree, but there is a non insignificant amount of hypocrisy going on among fanbases everywhere. I think most people would entertain changing jobs for $5k, let alone $25k $100k etc etc. But those same people rant and rave and call these kids traitors and all that for doing something they would jump at in a heartbeat themselves.

I always sit there when the NFL starting lineups come on television and tell my kids "They come from all over." For some reason it still amazes me.

Yeah, the days of the NFL overlooking players because of lack of exposure is looooong gone. But the days of the NFL (and the media) over-hyping the B1G and SEC are still with us.

While this is true, it's a lot more difficult and there's a lot less money (initially) to be had. Lots of late round draft picks flourish. Lots of early round draft picks fall apart. You'd think the NFL would learn, but it doesn't. It's like their not even playing with their own money or something.
