I think this game could really be entertaining. This has nothing to do with USC "overlooking" WSU. Not only are the Cougs a top 20 team, but they get the Trojans in Pullman, USC is banged up, and this will be the 5th straight week that they will be playing a bowl team.
Depth of talent should not be the story for USC. Virtually every kid on their 3 deep was rated higher than WSU's starters coming out of high school. However, the Trojans are just kind of a weird team. Their defense has the athletes to be lights out, and a D-coordinator who is as good as there is in the college game.
Offensively, Darnold is a magician - the kid's a great player. However, the run game hasn't been great, and having their starting RB shelved tonight won't help. The O-line isn't consistent, and neither are the receivers.
WSU has a really good QB, and Pirate has his system set and just reloads on offense. On defense, the Cougs have some athletes, and a really good D-coordinator. The crowd will be pumped. It makes me jealous for that great stretch when we looked so forward to having those top 10 Trojan teams come to Reser. The atmosphere was electric, the Beavs gave them fits, winning some and playing them tough in losses.
I feel like it's the Cougs time to enjoy that experience, and I actually expect them to win tonight, with a final score of something like 35-31.

I'm really looking forward to this game. Like you, I do wish it was in Corvallis and we were ranked in the top 20. I hope you are wrong on the score though. I've got a couple units at under 64.5. Last night the total was 61.5.

Faulk... don't see him lasting this game. It's USC not OSU. It's Pullman in late September not November.
OSU got pressure... sometimes with three... Luke will be on the ground all night long.
Darnold and the SC offense have not jelled for an entire game, tonight they will for 3+ quarters.
WSU is a top 20 pretender.
SC in a rout... is my call

Mata'afa leads conference in sacks, Luvu is 8th, Oguayo 14th, and McBroom 17th. No wonder sdtr stold WSU"s d line coach last year. OSU has zeron in top 30.

WSU a threat to score every time they have the ball. I'm looking forward to this one also. Go Cougs!

And at home... WSU is much like many of MR's OSU teams. You can't judge them based on their OOC performance no matter who the opponent. 2016 WSU started 0-2 with losses to the dreaded E. Washington and Boise St. then won 8 in a row. 2015 WSU started with a loss to Portland State and then won 9 games. Good thing Leach didn't end up at OSU. Beaver fans would never stand for 8 and 9 win season's with a coach who loses games to E. Washington, Portland St., and Boise St. That's totally unacceptable no matter how many big conference wins are produced by same coach.

I say the Cougs squeek one out! They are never intimidated in these higher ranked games.
Go Beavs!

And at home... Washington State beat Boise State. Fun fact, the last time that Washington State beat USC on the Palouse was 2002. The 2002 Cougars won the Pac-10. The time before that was 1986. The time before that? 1930. The 1930 Cougars won the Pacific Coast Conference. So ends the list of Washington State home wins against USC. Oregon State has more home wins against USC in the past 17 years than Washington State has had in its history.

And at home... I think, all things being equal, USC wins this one. However, in the past 20 days, USC has played Stanford, then played Texas to overtime, and traveled to Berkeley. Within the past week, USC has traveled to Berkeley, returned, practiced, and now travels to Pullman, the most remote of the 12 Pac-12 schools. That is a tough turnaround. Washington State has not left Pullman yet. The Cougars played a tight one against Boise, but then played a laugher against Oregon State followed by an even bigger laugher against Nevada. I do not think that Washington State is better, but the scoreboard may show different, when the game ends. I expect both of these teams will tail off as the season goes on. Both schedules are brutal. USC plays the next seven straight weeks after this one. Washington State plays six straight weeks after this before they get their bye before the Apple Cup.
