I wasn't pining for Riley to come back and thought it might just be better to turn the page, but if JS thinks it is a good fit then I'm happy. I really don't see the possibility of Riley undermining JS in any way that high. I was more worried about the dynamics among all the assistants with Riley in the mix. Do they at some point feel Riley has JS's ear more than they or others do and would that cause problems. But having a former HC that you have a strong relationship on staff might help him successfully navigate all the "CEO duties" that he's never had to deal with but Riley has. This guy ^^^^ gets it.

Not even remotely... not sure any two have coached together except JS and McDonald at UW... Bray and MR at Nebraska... seems like integrating several bands??? Getting the band back together means just that, many coaches who worked together at many locations all returning together to a single school. The previous staff that used the phrase came from many different schools, but had mostly all worked together. Coming from locations such as Wisconsin, Utah, Utah State, Colorado State, USF, and others. Now the results should be different this time, but the expression works just the same. I only disagree because (1) it was used by the former staff and don't want to be reminded of them; (2) the other staff came from different school before OSU, but did ALL coach together previously, unlike this staff who have never ALL coached together.

Awesome News!!!
The Egger article indicated that Riley had already been here the past couple days watching video with the new Offensive Coordinator. Thought that was rather interesting...

Do not have ability to research more, but coaches that have coached/worked together on previous staffs or had coach player relationships include: JS & MR, Bray & JS, JS & Lindgren, Cookus & MR & JS, Michalzik & JS, and DVD & MR & JS & Cookus & Michalzik & Bray. There are plenty of connections and we do not even have half the staff. This all off the top of my head. The real point is connections will be there from the past. Is there a point where it is too much. I personally do not think so. JS has yet to bring in someone that he has not personally worked with. That could be a concern, but unfamiliarity could be a concern as well. I am looking forward to finding out who the rest of the staff is and what they accomplish.

My only concern with the Riley hire is that we may lose some momentum obtained from the hiring of JS as far as fan support and season ticket holders. I have already had two people tell me that they are dropping their season tickets because Riley was hired. These people are also significant donors.
I personally like Mike and think he adds a lot to the staff, but there is definitely a faction of people out there that are pissed off and willing to withdraw their support because of this move.

Cool... they can go take their purchasing power elsewhere. I do know where they will fit right in. And... people like that will typically be jumping right back on the band wagon as soon as Ws begin to happen. happens no matter who was hired. Had people say the same thing if JS was hired, or Tedford, etc etc etc. Season tix are headed downward because we're 7-29 the last 3 years... and actually crowds still surprised me. They will pick up with W's

And, season tickets haven't just went down in the last 3 years. They've been trending downward for close to 10 years. Hopefully that will change soon.

Even his biggest detractor has no hate for him. But there are many who still think he walks on water. He's just alright with me.

People can afford to be "game by game" with all the TV... not sure season tix will ever climb about 20k. I did a little informal research as the season went on... home and the away games I attended... season tix/away tix purchased thru a school... $68/game/seat seats if purchased thru StubHub... $32/game/seat... and were in same or better locations in each stadium. For as long and as many as I buy I have considered not renewing, but not out of anger. I can bump my donation, get better seats, and still spend less. I do not care about the offers... free Terrace pass for one game for each seat. The place sux... rather tailgate longer. Free bonus priority points... no thx. Beaver clear bag... yippee. 6-month payment plan... not needed. And, last time I looked season tix are still $390, but if you want extras... holy moly Batman.... $86-$150+ for some games. They are basically driving people to their TVs and outlets like StubHub (which I assume OSU gets some $$$ from since they are partnered on the website???).

They have the wrong price points on the season tickets. They need to actually lower the donation fees and seats for most of the stadium at this point. Make the season ticket prices much lower than anything Stubhub can do. Make the entry points low enough to win fans back. Even losing money to put people in the stadium is better to build momentum right now.

In addition, you mentioned the terrace, which to me was priced awfully. They want the same per seat donation as parts of the club level, yet you are sitting in the end zone. That was very poorly thought out. The per seat donation for the terrace seats should be less than half of what the seat donation is in the club level.

Yeah, I remember the chaos when associate head coach Gregg Smith completely hijacked Dennis's Erickson's authority back in 1999-2002.

I agree. Gave up my season tickets after 15 years during the CGA debacle. Was going to get the mini-plan, but then found good sideline seats on the west side for less than $20 on Stubhub, sometimes under cover too. I'd like to come back as a season ticket holder this year, but the prices are steep and I know there will be one or two games we can't make. The Terrace's big drawback is there is no place to go when it rains. 2018 is a good home schedule with USC and civil war. I do plan to make the trip to Reno.
