DA won 23 games, two Civil Wars, two bowl games, won 8 games with no running backs worth much in 2004, and would have had a super season in 2005 had Erickson not stupidly burned his redshirt season in 2001. If Luton can be 90 percent of the QB DA was, we're in great shape. Marcus McMaryion has two lifetime wins. Good luck to him, wherever he lands. Maybe, with two years eligibility left, 3M-B can catch on with Nebraska. Riley saw something in him once. According to some on here, (and I don't know enough to argue either way) he was Pac 12 starting QB quality material. I wish him well. I can't help but wonder what it was that the coaches saw, or didn't see, that relegated him down the list. I admit to being nosy but, we will probably never know the "rest of the story"

He's not playing at Nebraska ahead of Tanner Lee, that's for sure. And Lee has two years of eligibility remaining.

The Moose from Scappoose. incredibly talented QB. Mad skills.
Let's not anoint this JC transfer to DA. DA was a highly rated QB out of HS. Wasn't he one of the nation's best QBs out of HS in 2000? Didn't TN Vols offer DA along with other D1 programs? didn't DA light it up over 4k his senior year?
Luton came from some JC. He crushed it at JC. Before he went to JC, Luton enrolled at University of Idaho. .........Okay? Let's not call Luton jack-shat until he's done something. Like win a pac-12 game.......hahaha!

FREE BB1111!
I'm feeling indifferent, resigned myself to knowing this kid was never going to catch a break here, so I wish him the best and I'm a fan wherever he is.
It's been awhile since I've gone all fanboy on to one player , probably since the Rogers brothers. So 3M, good luck kid, much respect to you for graduating in 3 years and riding this rollercoaster as long as you had to. Someone is getting a quality kid and hopefully a winning QB.
I'll die laughing if he ends up at Utah and throws a few TD passes to Carrington

If I recall correctly, Miami had DA as their top target at QB.

Anyone else undecided or has a long term starter leaving after this year? Edit: post 1001 woohoo I made it.

I rarely post, but on this subject I will. I hope Marcus has success wherever he ends up. I thank him for what he did for our football team. That being said, all this hand wringing that he is somehow getting the shaft, amazes me.
He was a co-starter and got beat out by Seth. He only became a starter again because of injury. Jake Luton was brought in to push everyone on the roster to be the starter, and won the job. He was probably the favorite the moment he stepped on campus. Coaching staffs go with who they think will win the most games. Just because you were once a starter, does not mean you are guaranteed to stay a starter.
If Coach Anderson fails at picking QBs and fails to win games, he will be fired. But it is his job to recruit players to replace the players we have. That is how football works. You can win a bunch of games, but if someone better comes along, they take your job.
Now it is time for all the other back-ups to step up. They were all brought in to be ready, push the starter, and yes, someday possibly replace him.
If Marcus was not able to wrap his head around being a back up again, it may be best he does go to a new team. We have all seen what a guy who is possibly disgruntled can do to a locker room.

McMaryion. Sorry to see him go.
CGA did not like 3M............. He probably didn't like Luuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuke, too.
McMaryion will make it somewhere.
Just more pressure on CGA and Luton. It'll be fun to watch if the Beavs will have a winning record or suck ass. If the former, I'll be encouraged. I'll be happy. If the latter, CGA will get slammed........and hopefully canned, soon..........personally, I don't believe he's a fit for OSU. And, again, I'll be encouraged and I'll be happy.
It's a win-win for me.
Go Beavs!

Wasn't CGA close to getting Brevin White as QB? Brevin also seemed to like OSU? Then, Brevin chose Princeton? So, CGA took the Marin Catholic kid?
CGA better hope/pray this Luton kid delivers. CGA can't close on key offensive recruits because his vision is not clear especially on the offensive side of the ball.
It's all good. Luton must be all world per CGA. Awesome.

You nailed it blow. Some want to believe than CGA simply doesn't (didn't) want MGone to start period. Pure goofiness. The new QB coach and an OC had something to do with MGone not being the starter. The senseless vitriol is the silly notion that there was no competition. They "had something" to do with it, but how much? Coach A was quoted after the game Blount was put in that HE made the decision to put Blount in despite his limited practice reps. Later in the year McGiven was quoted as saying something along the lines that he would ideally be able to pick a QB not on how well they handle themselves in the huddle but on how they produce results on the game field. When you have coaches saying such things it gives fodder to speculation. It isn't fodder it is coolaid. Have another drink stoopid.
