Seems like they should be focusing on more important things, like re-naming the high school mascot. That's the in vogue thing to do right now. You are from Idahoky. Does Orofino HS still have the same mascot that they had 40 or so years ago?

personally I don't think the basic mask does much good. Unless medical grade a mask won't stop much disease (read the label on your box of masks). If I have to wear one in public places, I will wear one in public places. As long as it does some good, isn’t it worthwhile? No one is saying that if you wear a mask you are protected. No, that’s why it is part of a regimen of social distancing and washing hands. Now imagine if everyone in the country would wear one (and wear it properly—not as a chin guard). Me protecting you; you protecting me. Even if it’s only blocking 50% of the germs, I’m good with that. Lower those percentages. Make it a harder dice roll.

Because of the exponential spread of this disease ANY spread reduction effect masking has is effectively multiplied as well. If everyone masked up even if it os only 25-50% effective it would result in a lot fewer cases overall.

I won't ever understand why people won't wear masks. I suppose these same people don't care if a restaurant food handler doesn't wash their hands after using the bathroom.

Chuck Woolery, game show host and infectious disease expert, tweets that everyone is lying about Covid and our President retweets it. Monday Chuck Woolery's son is diagnosed with Covid, and he's changed his mind about a lot of what he said. Amazing when reality bites. Meanwhile the President has not tweeted this. You name me one person who would go into a hospital surgery room where no one is wearing a mask..... Junior Mint anyone? Go Beavs!!

Maybe it’s because the CDC originally said not to wear a mask unless it was an N95, even going so far as telling us that wearing any other masks were not only ineffective, but harmful to the wearer. Then contradicting themselves on that and many other things that they were originally certain of, maybe cast doubt among some people. But hey, it’s a free country. Unless the Governor of your State lays down their own rules of course.

Heck bloodletting for thousands of years use to be the "cure" for lots of ailments. I guess some might think blood letting is still a cure.

What they did was simply not encourage people to wear them in the first part of the pandemic. Dr. Fauci and others have readily admitted this was a major mistake, but their reasoning was to preserve PPE for health care workers. The US's response has been nothing short of a tremendous clusterf%#*. So much so, that we are sitting here for pages and pages debating if putting something over your mouth and nose is useful in preventing a disease that is spread from your mouth and nose...

I don't want to argue anymore, but they certainly did say that. It was a mistake if the homemade masks really work as many point out here.
