I agree with that, but OSU is a card carrying member of the Pac12, so as part of the organization, OSU did indeed cancel the game.

Involving lawyers for this relatively small sum of money in a legal environment where this kind of case costs tons; if they won, they would lose half to their lawyers, or pay half (or more) as much again if they lost, it might turn out to be a Pyrrhic victory.

CanZapZeZo has an interesting interview with Big Sky Conference Commish: hereWhile it may all be for naught if they decide to cancel football outright or move it to spring or whatever, he does make a compelling point. The conference put out the agreed upon testing and health protocols for the conference members... Why not allow PSU or Idaho to submit to those same protocols and procedures? The logic of cancelling a game with PSU vs. one with ASU, at least from a health perspective really starts to degrade if PSU is willing to do everything the conference members are going to do testing and protocol wise, especially given the fact that the simple air travel to a place like Arizona is likely to be the biggest exposure risk in all of it.

First of all, I am A BEAVER, all things Beaver. BUT, if I an Portland State, I have a contract. You can play the entire Pac-12, but you can't play me, 60 miles away, under the same state guidelines? BULLs%#t. You chose to cancel me, pay up mothers. Argue that if you can. Oregon State didn't cancel the game, the Pac-12 did. PSU can try suing them, but it wasn't OSU who cancelled it. If we did play PSU, they would have to do additional testing to be at the Pac-12 standards. I still think PSU could be in a lot of trouble long-term by trying to get their payday from teams in the Pac-12 refusing to schedule them moving forward.

The real question is whether they are trying to get money from Arizona too. Scheduled on Sept. 5 as their opener, and also canceled by the Pac 12. Hmmm.
Could be a big payday for PSU. A little money from 'zona and some from the Beavs. For doing nothing.
