Yeah, definitely surprised he leaving again. Third time... One has to think he won't be back again.

Longshot here but could Coach Riley be headed to the Alliance if American Football League? DE coaches the Utah team. Spurrier and Neuweasal as well. Hope not.

Some guy was tweeting it last night. I told him he was crazy. Now I'm not so sure...Does MR really need the extra money and the headaches, not to mention the uncertainty of a startup pro football league?

It would surprise me. Riley always seemed to make it clear he didn't really enjoy Pro football and seemed to make it clear he liked the idea of slowing down and being closer to his grandkids.

Timing wise seems like a brutal time to leave. Just finished spring ball, everyone else worth having presumably employed by now and we're deep into recruiting season. Looks like he was on the road recruiting over the weekend. But if it did happen, curious how that works out from an overall coaching staff salary pool standpoint. Do we have a rainy day fund in case we need to bring in another position coach at the going rate vs MR's $50K? FYI - I think he is still making $165K/mo from Nebraska as part of buyout until 2022 or something like that..

Personally, I'd be stunned to see him go off to coach some "also ran" pro football league.

Probably wishful thinking from the Angrybeavs crew... Indeed, AB was chiming in directly. I got a sense that this guy had some inside info, though. Maybe, maybe not, but that seems like a crazy claim to make without any substance to back it up. Or, since DE has already been announced as a coach, it's not a stretch to start a rumor about MR as well? That could be a possibility.

I don't go over there very often because it's the same 2 guys on the same 2 rants, but some of his big "inside scoops" have been absolutely nothing. Basically, i know a guy who has a brother who was at Bombs Away who overheard from the bus boy.. that type of solid info.

It wouldn't surprise me if one of these upstart teams offered a job to Riley. that wouldn't surprise me at all. Only him taking it.
