By the way ... how does a sock help when I am typing ? You are so smart you can help, or maybe your brother can clarify... he's in the same gene pool.

Dude... just take a glance around the board... and then talk "gene pool" as far as posts go. There are many analogies and comments, but the easiest, although not sure you'll still understand... Never, ever get in a battle of wit/intelligence when you are very clearly out of ammo. But, then again... those like you in that category seldom have the self realization to know it! So, it continues and proves Darwin's theory doesn't always hold true

Just refer to him as QR from now on. HC Smith gave him the proverbial "Thanks and good luck" buh-bye in the media.

Mediocre Mike.
Leaving to coach a 3rd tier XFL rip off. I'm unsure if that says more about him or OSU.
Either way, good-bye, good luck and don't come back. Ever.

You do realized he's not the head coach anymore, correct? Like, this isn't Jonathan Smith leaving. I know this doesn't really matter because of the Nebraska deal, but the AAF is going to pay him TEN TIMES what he was getting to coach in Corvallis. As for the "what it says about him as a grandparent" crowd, he does have another kid that lives in Austin, per the Oregonian.

Softballs 1111 - Oh., I am so hurt by comments from a total moron. If you only knew... but
I think looking at other reports and about 75% of the posters on this board, plus Coach Smith no -less, that you are the Village Idiot. Virtually everyone is glad that 'aw shucks ' is GONE and he will not ever grace our beautiful campus again. All of a sudden he loves San Antonio ( watch his uber sickening press conference ), and says he was always meant to be there. Truly cringeworthy- just like his feeble mind.Adios loser !

Don't understand why people are getting their panties in such a knot.
We lost our lowest-paid assistant, well before practice is set to start. He will be easily replaced, my guess is from within the staff.
If you don't like him, then be glad he's gone. But please refrain from the character potshots; how many of us would turn down the chance for a promotion at 10X the salary, while being able to move to a place where we already owned a house and already planned to spend half the year after we retired?
Smith, Lindgren and Tibbs are running the show. They are the Power 3 on this staff. MR definitely had value, but he was essentially the Secretary of Agriculture.
As for the "Mediocre Mike" shots: I long for the day when we were so "mediocre," with winning seasons, bowl games, at least contending for Pasadena, and beating ranked opponents. I hope we can be "mediocre" again in the near future.

He was going to make the exact same amount whether he stayed or left. He is still getting paid by Nebraska and whatever he makes from the AAF will be subtracted out of that. The only one benefiting from this is Nebraska, who will have to pay him less.

Good luck to a very good coach. I wish him well, and we'll do just fine here at OSU as well.

I'm not sure Nebraska owes him anything now, since he has taken another job following the one he took upon leaving. That's the way a lot of contracts work, once you take that second job, the original contractor's obligation is over.

Thx for proving my point! Oh my what a rambling hot mess of unintelligent garble. Best redo your research... "75% and Coach Smith" Cuz Jonathan was forced to hire him? I think you insult the car with these posts! Holy gawd... tell us you are like a 13 y/o neophyte just learning to post???! PS- "suddenly", you know he's had a home there since coaching the Riders in the early 90's. Oh... yeah... explaining stuff that is waaaaaaaaaay above your pay grade! LMAO
